Abstract
Justice as a definitive value is shaped within the traditions of Nubuwwah and philosophy corresponding to dichotomic conceptions of justice based on the individual as abd, and individual as pseudo-god. Starting from Ta’lim-i Esma to Plato’s Republic, and stretching from the Circle of Justice to the Enlightenment-inspired notions of justice, existential, legal, and social definitions will be explored, and implications be discussed. In this context, Nursi’s understanding of justice will be contextualized within his notion of Positive Action. The idea of adalet-i mahza will receive special emphasis in the context of justice in punishment.
